My Thoughts:

The Cover: What a beautiful painting! The cover shows a woman and was actually painted by the author's mother for the book.  It's very fitting I think now that I have read the book.

The Plot:  Making Arrangements is a very touching story that keeps the reader engaged and entertained.  It tells a tender story of an old relationship,  several new relationships,  and a family with lots of secrets. It was filled with humor,  sadness,  joy and at times made me even angry. But the story moved well keeping me reading even if I only had a few minutes.

The Characters:  I wasn't sure how to take our main character, Lang,  until well into the story. She seemed lost and weak,  but only until I got to know her.  She was in a tough position and that's when her strength really showed. All of the supporting characters were wonderfully written with depth and feeling and I enjoyed reading their interactions.  Sarah and Leland were favorites,  but little Katie D and Victoria were loved.

Is it Worth Reading?: Without a doubt. As I have said before, when I am reading something outside my genres, I always get nervous. But Making Arrangements was very well written and I enjoyed it very much.  I highly recommend it to readers of contemporary and give it 4 out of 5 crossbows.
